Denny's deals

It's back. Denny's is once again offering everyone a free Grand Slam breakfast for one morning only.
The offer is good on Tuesday, Feb. 9, from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Denny's restaurants across the country.
You may remember, Denny's offered everyone in America a free Grand Slam breakfast last year in their ad on the Super Bowl. At the Denny's on Wadsworth that day, the line went out the door most of the morning. Denny's gave away about 2 million meals. Denny's said the goal was to reacquaint America with its restaurants.
This year, Denny's will run three commercials on Super Bowl Sunday promoting another day of free breakfast meals. The ads will also talk about the return of the Denny's birthday giveaway, where customers get a free meal with proof of date of birth. You don't have to sign up in advance for the birthday deal, just come in on your birthday. That promotion hasn't been offered in nearly 15 years, said John Dillon, vp, marketing at Denny's. "For us, the benefit is that they usually bring other people with them," he added.
And there's one more deal. Visit the Denny's Web site for a contest to win free breakfast each week for a year. Thanks to Debbie's Deals at thedenverchannel.com for this deal!!

Kids eat free
I love my kids but I do miss the days of picking a new restaurant out of the Entertainment Book each weekend and pretending that I'm a food critic. Now, eating out consists of looking at who offers crayons / coloring books, how dressed down can we be and cost. The Denver metro area has some amazing restaurants and a large selection of family friendly places to eat. Check out this website for an up to date listing of where and when kids eat for free:

p.s. Make sure you call ahead just to make sure the restaurant is still participating and to inquire about a waiting list. Nothing worse than waiting for a table with two starving kids and a ticked off husband :)

Diapers

In my next life, I plan to create or improve upon something that people cannot live without and thus, I'll be wealthy beyond belief. I'm thinking disposable diapers may fall into that category. A box of Pampers / Huggies will typically run you around $20 and if you are lucky and your child doesn't blow through diapers like my little guy does, you can get through two weeks before that box is empty. Still, that is a lot of moolah to spend on something that just gets thrown out pretty quickly. I have searched high and low for good quality disposable diapers that cost less than the big boys. I've tried a lot of no name brands and always ended up doing a ton of laundry during those trials due to leaks and blow outs. Target recently revamped their line of goods and these items now sport the name Up and Up. I've tried several of their comparison lines and have been pleasantly surprised with the findings. Recently, I did a little unscientific study where I put Pampers up against Up and Up for a week. I was a Pampers snob with my first child so I figured Up and Up had a low chance of knocking my favorite out. I rated the diapers on absorbability, cost, thickness and design. My experience was that both diapers came out pretty even in terms of leaks and ability to contain during the evening hours if I tried to go a long period without changing. I personally liked the thickness of the Up and Up brand and the cute polka dot design is gender friendly. The final step came with comparing the prices ... $20 for a box of Pampers at Wally World and $14 for a box of Up and Up at Target. Ding, ding, ding we have a winner ....
Just in time for my new found love of Up and Up diapers came a post on slickdeals.net about a sale Target is having on these diapers if you buy them online and in bulk. I ended up buying 4 boxes of the diapers for $44 shipped to my home, which includes tax. That is $11 a box with 96 diapers per box ... comes out to 11 cents per diaper. Yeah !!!!!! The deal can also be combined with formula, wipes, baby food and baby toiletries so this is a great time to stock up. Here is the deal for anyone who is interested:
Target has a great deal going for their own brand Up & Up diapers. Buy 3 save 10%, buy 4 or more save 15% on disposable diapers, wipes, baby food + formula and baby toiletries. Don't worry if you are going through the check out process and don't see the 10 or 15% taken off yet .. it doesn't come off until you enter your payment information and go to the final page to confirm your order. This is also the page where you put the code in for an additional 10% off.

Let the spending begin

Hi all .. my name is Amy and I am a mom to two amazing little kiddos. I have always considered myself a savvy shopper but before my kids were born, my passion for finding deals wasn't really about finances. It was more about the thrill of the hunt and finding those great bargains than a way to survive financially. Four years later I have two kids under the age of five and despite working full time, I find myself needing to find new ways to stretch our dollars to make sure that not only are the kids basic needs met but that there is something left over for fun, household items and things that don't really need but desperately want. I subscribe to a variety of different sites to help me keep track of sales, coupons and price errors in an attempt to maximize our dollars. I also enjoy sharing my finds with friends and family but sometimes I feel like I'm inundating them with emails. A friend in the neighborhood recently sent me an email about one of her colleagues who started a blog about great deals. The light bulb went off in my head and I immediately knew that creating a similar site would allow everyone to see my finds, if they so chose, without me having to send mass emails. I'll try to keep this site updated weekly and most of the posts will focus on kid / family friendly items. Thanks and I hope this site will help others in their pursuit of making the most of their ever dwindling funds ...
